17th Century Baroque Figure Of «Madonna and Jesus», Portugal

About the Item

A late 17th-century figure in polychromed chestnut wood with excellent carving and gilding, dressed in a flowing veil and cashew hair down the shoulders. The cheekbones and nose are rounded, the mouth and nose are small, and the neck is naked. Long golden tunic that flows beautifully to the feet. His left arm is holding a naked Jesus. She is dressed in the Carmelite attire, which consists of a tunic that reaches her feet and a silver crown.
