17th century carved limewood figure of St Michael

About the Item

Early 17th century carved limewood figure of st michael circa 1640. Beautiful floor standing figure of the st michael the dragon slayer, also known as archangel michael.  Michael has many forms and beliefs in most religion.  We believe our piece to be flemish and hand carved in lime wood. Excellent colour and patina. As expected with age, the figure has suffered some losses to old worm, which is no longer active and has been treated.  Age splits to front but structurally sound. Fantastic piece of history.
