About the Item

1900s Figurate Art Nouveau bronze sculpture by Louis Auguste Moreau (c. 1903). Commissioned for the Concours Régional d’Auch—and awarded to Julien Truau—the statue was valued at 500 francs, or €2000 today, and came with an additional 1000 francs in prize money. Moreau (1855-1919) was a prominent French sculptor known for his bronze-cast figurines and allegorical Art Nouveau works often depicting women, children, and historical figures. Provenance: Estate acquisition in Vic-Fezensac, France.
