19th C Bronze Statue of a Young Henry IV After Baron Francois Joseph Bosio
About the Item
This late 19th century French patenated bronze figure was copied from the original made in 1822 by Baron Francois Joseph Bosio (French, 1768-1845), which is now in Paris at the Louvre. A charming depiction of the young Henry IV, 1553-1610, known as Good King Henry or Henry the Great, he was King of France from 1589 to 1610. The boy portrays seriousness yet youthfullness and is standing on a integral base holding a sword. Lots of detail, especially to the folds of his clothing, lace around his collar and cuffs, facial features and the waviness of his hair.
Nicely patenated.
