19th Century French Bronze Equestrian Figure of Joachim Murat on Marble Base

About the Item

Antique French bronze knight figure, very finely cast bronze figure of a knight on a horse, a mid-19th century Joachim Murat figure on prancing horse, mounted on a green marble shaped base, probably inspired to a famous painting and depicting the king of Naples and of Two Sicilies, wearing one of his uniforms on a prancing horse. The figures of the knight and the horse are embellished with gilded elements, beautiful fire gildings decorating the profile on the edge of the base and the gilt flag on the ground under the horse, featuring the map of the conquered territories. This equestrian figure has an original burnished patina, an oxidized silver finish that creates an elegant contrast with the gilding and underlines the high quality chissel of this antique French handwork. This ancient bronze sculpture is in good condition, it is of French origin and dates back to the mid-19th century. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative licence for export called Belle Arti.
