About the Item

A beautifully cast bronze of an older man lifting a younger woman as she clings to a floral sheaf. An allegory of age and youth? Susannah and the Elders? It is hard to say what the allegory is in this compelling bronze. It is a fine cast done by an accomplished and talented artist. Unsigned, mounted on a white marble base. German Romantic period, circa 1800. Measure: 12 inches high.
