About

A 19th century grand tour bronze Mercury balancing on a bronze column issuing from the mouth of Zephyr, god of the wind. The bronze is displayed upon a stepped triangular serpentine pedestal. The caduceus is either missing or was never part of this bronze. This bronze is after Giambologna, also known as Giovanni de Bologna, who was a Flemish sculptor based in Italy. One of his most famous works was the Mercury and Zephyr bronze which now resides in The Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence.
