Late 19th Century Italian Arabesque Style Carrara Marble Sculpture Signed Pugi. Offered is a beautifully executed late 19th century carved Carrara marble seated Arab male on a thick marble base. This Italian sculpture is signed on the lower back side, Pugi (Guglielmo Pugi) and has been documented in publications on the artist. Guglielmo Pugi (1850-1915), born in Fiesole, Italy, was an Italian sculptor whose studio was in Florence. He and his sons, Gino and Fiorenzo, functioned as Guglielmo Pugi and Sons, and the sons later operated as Fratelli G. and F. Pugi (also known as Pugi Brothers).
