Dimensions Height = 23.7 cm Width = 26.5 cm Depth = 8.5 cm André BELO (1908-1976) This French sculptor, born in Paris in 1908, a pupil of Jean Boucher and Maillol, developed an interest in sculpture at a very young age and embarked on his vocation at an early age. He was a professor at the School of Applied Arts and a member of the jury of the School of Fine Arts. He made models for medals for Erik Satie and Charles Dullin at the Hôtel de la Monnaie, bas-reliefs but also more artistic compositions, which he presented at the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture from 1945 until the beginning of the 70's. He is noted for his modern lines, bordering on figuration, surrealism and abstraction. He achieves a great simplicity of forms, inspired by both Laurens and Brancusi. The representation of the human being, around themes such as women, couples, motherhood, remains her favorite theme. But he also sculpted some animals, such as his "Firebird", a bronze print of which is kept at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
