About the Item

Baroque shrine of architectural structure, entirely made of carved and turned oak wood. Its design follows that of a contemporary architectural facade, with a semi-elliptical plant and organized in two registers, with a cupulated finish with balustrade, ornamental florets and a round figure child figure in the upper part of the dome, probably the representation of the Child Jesus. The two levels of the facade have arches and double columns, delimiting three vertical streets. The columns appear ahead of the plant, following the models of contemporary architecture, with basements that protrude from the main one creating a dynamic rhythm of typically baroque, chiaroscuro and moving entrances and protrusions. In the lower floor the columns are higher, and have Corinthian capitals and fajados at half height, as well as leaves and acanto in relief on the base. Among the columns we see arches with the key highlighted, looking again the dynamic rhythm, broken lines, typical of baroque architecture. The bottom is flat, with vegetal motifs of classic type in relief. In the upper floor the columns are Ionic, with a smooth shaft, and between the two pairs of frontal columns we see a simple arc of half a point that houses the door of the tabernacle. This one appears profusely carved with diverse classic motifs, among them rows of contario, "draperies", gallones, rows of bells and leaves of acanthus. On the sides of this upper body we see niches that could originally house sacred images, and which are topped with tondos adorned with wrinkled ribbons and rows of bells. The chapel is topped by a balustrade richly adorned with carved and turned motifs: balusters on the sides and, in the center, a symmetrical composition of classic style, flanked by laptops, composed of two garlands of laurel, a central tassel and sinuous wrinkled ribbons . Finally the dome rises, recessed and entirely carved out of recessed gallons, with rows of raised bells in its interior. From the Priory of Saint François de Cuburien (Finesterre).
