Arts & Crafts/Secessionist Clock with Female Figures by Roman Bronze Works

About the Item

Extremely rare if not unique, this extraordinary timepiece may be the only sculpture-cum-clock ever cast by the Roman Bronze Works, America's premier bronze foundry in the early 20th century. The sculpture features two female figures with long, Classical robes, flanking a clock face at the apex of a stylized geometric motif, all surmounted by a flowering plant in a garden pot. Everything here -- the figures, the clock face, and the clock hands, are cast in bronze, and the sculptural work is very fine. The piece features Roman Bronze Works' foundry mark at its base.
