About the Item
Bronze group with a green patina, signed on the base by the French sculptor Jean de Roncourt (19th/20th century).
This artist, who reached the height of his fame during the Art Deco period, is renowned for his virtuoso sculpting of the bodies of athletes in the midst of physical exertion.
This work depicts a man hunting an eagle.
The bird, trapped, is about to receive the fatal blow.
These sculptures rest on a rectangular black marble base. The man leans on an alabaster element, which adds a touch of contrast to the overall effect.
This bronze group evokes a scene that is both beautiful and unparalleled in its cruelty.
