Bronze Lady Dancer by Poertzel Otto, Germany Made circa 1920-1925

Exquisite antique tall Bronze Lady Dancer made by German manufactory in the Twenties. Hallmarked: Prof. Poertzel (signature well visible at round bronze base). It is the German sculptor Hermann Hugo Otto Poertzel (1876 - died 1963 in Coburg / Germany). Additionally, a moulder's sign is engraved on round bronze base. This bronze item is attached to high base made of dark red marble. Material: bronze / golden patinized (patinated) dark red marble base (marble is white veined) Some Informations Referring To The Artist: Born in Scheibe / Germany where a porcelain manufactory had been situated, H.O. Poertzel was trained as porcelain modeller first. He was active as independent / autonomous sculptor in Coburg then, as from the year 1900 (he made sculptures mainly made of stone as well as of bronze by order of public authorities). H.O. Poertzel moved to Munich in year 1908, where he had possession of own workshop. Finally, the artist returned to Coburg in year 1910 where he purchased a mansion, having established a workshop there. Specifications: The female semi-nude figurine clad in long gown with spaghetti straps balances with right leg on flat round bronze base. She stretches herself as well as seizes a corner of cloth with left hand. Simultaneously with this movement, the long dress seems to be blown by the wind - thus one covering her body as well as framing her figurine in finest manner. Measures: total height: 57.5 cm (= 22.71 inches) height of bronze figurine only: 44.0 cm (= 17.32 inches) depth of marble base: 15.0 cm (= 5.90 inches) width of marble base: 15.0 cm (= 5.90 inches) Total weight: 11.02 kg / 11.020 GRAMS / 387.90 OZ Made circa 1920-1925 Condition: Excellent (there aren't any damages existing).
