Mid-Century Modern bronze sculpture on black marble by listed artist Doris Caesar (1892-1971). This piece is called "Grief "Caesar was born in Brooklyn and studied drawing and sculpture in the USA and Europe. She worked for 5 years in Archipenko's studio and was later influenced by German sculptors Ernst Barlach and Rudolf Belling. Excellent condition. From The Estate of Maxine Pines.
