About the Item

This rare and substantial sculpture, finished in a ruddy brown glaze atop a classical base, was produced by the Mosaic Tile Company in Zanesville, Ohio. Mosaic Tile was founded by Karl Langerbeck and Herman Mueller in 1894, and produced a wide range of tiles -- and, more rarely, sculptures -- through the 1950s. Today, its most important pieces are highly coveted.
