Cute ceramic figurine, part of the 'Signs of the Zodiac' collection, made in the early 20th century from Capodimonte ceramic painted in gold. Capodimonte is a type of Italian porcelain first developed in the 18th century. It is known for its bright colours, intricate details and striking designs with flowers, animals or mythical figures. Its production requires incredible craftsmanship, as each piece must be hand-painted to create unique designs. For this reason, Capodimonte pieces are highly sought-after and valuable due to their rarity. Over the years, they have become a valuable part of many collections and are considered an important piece of Italian cultural history. The base is spherical in shape, with a simply splendid gold surround. At the base of the feet is the sign of the zodiac represented by this statue: Virgo. One leg is slightly forward of the other, entirely wrapped in a golden robe. The zodiac sign of Virgo is often represented with a spike to represent its intelligence and exacting nature. Virgo's symbol is usually a combination of the letter 'M' for the Virgin, and a spike or spear, which is said to stand for qualities such as orderliness and purity.
