Rare Large Edition of "Clarté" by Max Le Verrier – A True Art Deco Masterpiece
Discover an extraordinary and exceptionally rare large edition of "Clarté" by the legendary Max Le Verrier. This is not just a sculpture; it is a true masterpiece of the Art Deco era, a defining work that solidified Le Verrier's place among the greatest sculptors of the time.
A Rare and Exceptional Collectible
This particular edition is an original, large-scale casting in bronze, a significant departure from smaller versions made in spelter (régule). It is mounted on an exquisite antique Portor marble base, further enhancing its uniqueness and historical value. Unlike later editions, the glass globe is attached using a screw-thread mechanism, a detail characteristic of the earliest productions. The sculpture itself features a deep, rich patina that has developed beautifully over time, highlighting its authenticity and age.
Max Le Verrier’s Iconic Creation
First designed in 1928, "Clarté" epitomizes the elegance and dynamism of the Art Deco movement. The sculpture captures a graceful, poised female figure, standing tall with arms extended, presenting a luminous glass sphere. The striking short bob hairstyle and sleek contours are emblematic of the Jazz Age, a testament to Le Verrier’s artistic vision and mastery.
What makes this piece even more remarkable is its historical context. Inspired by three live models, including an Afro-American dancer from Josephine Baker’s legendary revue, "Clarté" is not only a work of beauty but also a piece of cultural and artistic history.
A True Centerpiece for Collectors
This rare large iron edition is in outstanding condition, considering its age, with only minor signs of wear that add to its character and authenticity. As one of Max Le Verrier’s most sought-after and celebrated works, this sculpture represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of 20th-century design.
Whether showcased on a console table, displayed in an art collection, or placed as a statement piece in a refined interior, this large "Clarté" radiates sophistication, artistry, and the enduring allure of Art Deco craftsmanship.

Max Le Verrier
Max Le Verrier was born on January 29, 1891, in Neuilly-sur-Seine. He opened his studio in 1919 and won a medal at the famed 1925 Exposition in Paris that gave Art Deco its name. Later, he established a foundry that cast bronze sculptures for Pierre Le Faguays and Marcel Bourain, among others. Although Le Verrier experimented with other alloys, he continued to create pieces in bronze as well. Le Verrier died on June 6, 1973, in Paris.
