A dynamic 19th century French bronze of the Goddess Harmonie, she is perched upon a plinth but appears to be playfully hopping off with her lyre in one hand, her robes flowing freely around her form. Signed Carrier Belleuse.
Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887)
Carrier-Belleuse was a French sculptor and founding member of The Beaux-Arts. He is best known for having the artist Auguste Rodin as an assistant. His style incorporates realism, baroque and Rococo.
