E l'Hoest, Archery, Orientalist Bronze Signed, XIXth Century

About the Item

The archery: dark patina bronze representing an archery with oriental features: hair, earrings ... This sculpture signed by the artist Eugène L'Hoest is of a good quality in the way the artist treated the modeling. Eugène L'Hoest is a French artist, having studied art in Angers then worked in the workshops of several artists in Paris in 1891. In 1893, he presents for the first time a work at the Salon of French Artists, and he participated in the Universal Exhibition of 1900. In 1906; he gets a scholarship that will allow him to travel to Italy and North Africa. Henceforth the "Orientals", both in their physicality and in their culture, will be the favorite theme of his creations. In 1911, the artist presents at the Salon of the Society of French Orientalist painters about ten sculptures in plaster or bronze with lost wax inspired by Egypt and Algeria.
