About the Item
A hand-painted ceramic sculpture depicting American-born French dancer Josephine Baker holding a peace dove by French sculptor Eric Ledoux. The piece is unsigned.
Eric Ledoux was born in 1946 in Paris. He studied artistic drawing and composition at the Académie Charpentier in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. In the late 60s, he met Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and César Baldaccini. He made a living as a textile designer for Balmain and Pierre Cardin. He first came to Mexico during a visit to his uncle Henri de Châtillon (1906 - 1972), a prominent fashion designer, where he fell in love with Mexican art and culture. Eric has lived in Cuernavaca, México since 1989.
