Fine Victorian Bronze of Boy with Trumpets by Ernst Rancoulet, c. 1900
About the Item
A very good quality finely detailed bronze with lovely warm brown patina by the renowned French sculptor Ernest Rancoulet (b. 1870 d. 1915).
Rancoulet is known for his neoclassical bronzes of mythological gods and creatures and here is a young man dancing, performing for the onlookers. He plays a buisine (the medieval straight trumpet) and carries a second. His body wrapped lightly with a fleece and below his feet a leather bag, full of money we hope from his entertained admirers, the bag is signed Rancoulet.
