About the Item

A striking and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze statue of two cherubs making wine, signed Clodion. The statue is raised by an oblong shaped base with a wonderfully executed terrain design. Above are two most charming and richly chased cherubs, one sitting and one standing, at each side of a vine, picking the grapes to make wine. Each cherub is draped in a flowing garment and with oak leaves in their hair. Wonderful attention to detail. All original warm patina throughout.
