Gilt Bronze Boy Allegory of Geography, French, 18th Century

About the Item

This charming depiction of a boy measuring the earth with a compass is an allegorical sculpture of geography. This bronze was cast using the lost wax technique and is fire gilded. He sits, but is not affixed, on a modern marble base. This sculpture may have been created to adorn a clock but is a worth object by itself.
