A French bronze figure of Atalanta with a «Fumiere et Cie» mark on the base.
Atalanta the famous virgin huntress.Atalanta raced all her suitors and outran all but Hippomenes, who defeated her by cunning, not speed.
The piece is from the world renowned Thiébaut Freres foundry that operated from 1920 through 1926 as “Thiébaut Freres, Fumiere et Cie”, after which point they ceased to exist.One of the last pieces ever produced in france`s greatest foundry.
