About the Item
IGNI Torino porcelain"Contadinello"
A beautiful figure representing a peasant produced by the IGNI factory in Turin founded by Lionello Franchini in 1936, a ceramist from Lenci in Turin and considered an imitator. IGNI produced several types of ceramics designed by artists such as Camillo Ghigo, Ines Grande and Otto Maraini. The factory remained open for about 20 years.
At the exhibition “LENCI - LO STILE ITALIANO NELLA CERAMICA” a statuette similar to a peasant was exhibited (varying only in the decoration of his shirt and scarf). GLI ARTISTI E GLI EPIGONI”, held from May 25 to October 25, 2015 (page 102 of the exhibition catalogue, see attached photos).
Under the statuette the classic IGNI brand is represented with a red flame in a black square.
