About the Item

Large patinated bronze sculpture depicting a naked Narcissus by Michele Amodio, based on the ancient original discovered in 1862 in Pompeii in the House of Narcissus and currently housed in Naples. Narcissus was a hunter in Greek mythology distinguished by his beauty. He is depicted standing, head bowed and hand raised. He wears a floral crown over his curly hair and a goatskin over his shoulder. He wears high gladiator sandals. The youth rests on a round stepped base decorated with water leaves. The work is signed on the base: M. Amodio Napoli.
