About the Item
A very impressive and grand scale Italian mid 19th century white Carrara marble statue on a Gris St. Anne pedestal, signed Lazzarini. The statue is of a maiden in classical drape, with bare feet, carrying a large wine urn on her shoulder. The tapered marble fluted pedestal is raised on a circular wide base with a lovely running wave design at the top.

Alesandro Lazzarini (1860-1942) Born in Carrara Italy and was a student of the Academy of Carrara. Lazzarini exhibited at the Paris Salon where he recieved an honorable mention in 1889. Then at the Exposition Universelle where he received Bronze medals in 1889 and 1900.

Rossetti Roma 1878. The statue is raised on its original pedestal column with a square black Belgium marble base and mottled socle shaped support below the circular lightly tapered Rouge Griotte marble central support and circular mottled top.
