About the Item
A spectacular Italian 19th century neo-classical white carrara marble sculpture of Paulina Bonaparte signed by Carlo Fossi. Paulina was the sister to Emperor Napoleon and is sculpted laying on her bed. Modeled after the original by Antonio Canova, in 1808, which is displayed in the Villa Borghese, Italy. Paulina later became an imperial princess when she married Camillo Borghese, 6th Prince of Sulmona. Wonderfully executed with fine details throughout.
