ABOUT
This is an important Late Edo Period (1603-1868) Imperial Bunraku puppet of a young beautiful princess. Carved wood with layers of gofun (oyster shell lacquer, Human hair, Sky Imperial eyebrows (dots) Penetrating mica eyes Imperial green lip. In her storage box waiting to be dressed to go on stage Her face radiates a wonderful theatrical present. Possibly belonging to the Imperial households Bunraku theater performing for Royalty. By the artist Nagoshi Kenji, she played many roles in the Royal Osaka Nunraky Theater in Osaka, Japan.

An exceptional and wood statue of Buddhism Guardian Seitaka Doji from Japan circa Edo period (1603-1868), likely the earlier part of 17th century.
