About the Item
Joshua Kalfa was born is Israel and lives and works in Canada. His work often depicts animals and people. This piece dated 1985 and is 1/6.
From his website:
I endeavor to say more with less.... reducing sculpture to its basic elements, using simple and direct forms and imagery with a strong sense of that which is playful and whimsical.
Growing up at the foot of Mount Carmel by the Galilee in Israel, I spent endless hours of my boyhood on the mountain observing herds of sheep and goats. I felt deeply that there was a secret life to nature, always silent but radiating with unspoken intelligence and mystery. I still carry that with me today - I try to recreate that mystery in my art.
