About the Item

Julius Schmidt-Felling Olympic torch bearer bronze sculpture on marble base, circa 1910 Julius Paul Schmidt-Felling was a German sculptor. He designed a huge range of heroic warriors, antique-athletes and female nudes as well as milieu workers. This is a fine sculpture of an Olympic athlete with the Olympic flame. The bronze is in good condition though the lower marble base shows a chip at the back (see images) and the torch the runner holds is a bit tilted. This is easily restored. Dimensions: 9" x 7.5" at the base x 33" high. Signed and dated in the bronze at the base.
