About the Item
A large bibendum statue, Michelin advertising object, hand-painted replica of an old model, probably early 21st century, maybe earlier.
Made of plaster, with an old mold to create an exact replica of an old advertising object. Nice item for the mancave or the collector of Michelin memorabilia.
Bibendum is the mascot of the French tire company Michelin. The name Bibendum for the Michelin man comes from a Latin phrase: ‘Nunc est bibendum’, which means ‘Now is the time to drink’. This phrase was on an early Michelin advertising poster, in which the Michelin man raised a glass with nails and shards. The poster, which appeared in 1898, was designed by the French artist O’Galop. The Michelin man was soon called Bibendum.
The statue is in good used condition, with traces matching the age and material, some spots such as at the foot and at the bottom of the band, check the photos for more details!
