Late 19th century French large Louis XV Sculpture of a Putto Representing Summer A small girl standing in ancient Roman style sandals on a rectangular plinth against a rocaille motif and an acanthus scroll and turning slightly to the left while holding a bouquet of ripe fruits in her hands. The girl wears a distinguished hairstyle interwoven with strands of pearls and is dressed only in a small cloth draped around her hips. The excellently sculpted cast stone figure is painted in a reddish brown color to imitate the look of terracotta or red sandstone. The exact model of this figure could not be researched, but it is most certainly a figure from a French 18th century group of Four Seasons, as her attributes, the ripe friuts identify her as the personification of summer.
