Marble Carved Conquistador Rearing Horses

About the Item

A Marble Carved Conquistador Rearing Horses sculpture is an impressive and commanding piece that captures the drama and valor of a Spanish conquistador in a moment of action. The scene typically features a conquistador, fully armored or dressed in period attire, astride a powerful horse that is rearing up on its hind legs. The horse’s dynamic pose, with its front legs raised and its mane flowing, emphasizes the tension, strength, and motion of the moment, as if ready to charge forward. The conquistador, positioned confidently atop the horse, is often depicted with a sword or lance raised high, symbolizing leadership and conquest. His facial expression may convey determination or intensity, while his detailed armor or clothing reflects the ornate and functional design typical of the era, with intricate carvings of breastplates, helmets, and emblems. The reins and saddle are also finely crafted, adding to the lifelike quality of the piece. The marble, expertly carved, highlights both the strength of the horse’s muscular form and the conquistador’s commanding presence. The smooth, polished surface of the marble accentuates the elegance of the sculpture while natural veins in the stone bring depth and texture. The detailed carving of the horse’s muscles, veins, and taut posture, along with the conquistador’s flowing cape or armor, adds to the sense of movement and power. This statue often serves as a grand focal point in plazas, courtyards, or estate gardens, representing themes of exploration, victory, and courage, immortalized in stone. It evokes both historical significance and artistic excellence, blending the timeless beauty of marble with the dynamic energy of a heroic moment.

There he is… out in the distance standing on the cliffs edge, rearing with a colossal power that only a wild stallion exudes… Thrusting his hooves at the setting sun as if to say, “this is MY mountain, MY meadows, and MY heard.” He commands attention, he is dignified, and he is EXQUISITE. We have a marvelous cast metal bronze tone stylized rearing horse standing on a beautiful black marble base to offer to you. Attributed to C. Jere (a.k.a.) This is just the sculpture you’ve been looking for! Artisan House artists included founders Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels and Curtis Jere is a combination of their names. Before founding Artisan House these two friends and brothers-in-law had built a costume jewelry business which sold under the names of Renoir and Matisse, two well-known names of mid-20th century costume jewelry. During the mid-20th century, the C. Jere sculptures, and metal work were distributed by Raymor, a well-known name in Mid Century collectibles, and sold at Gump’s in San Francisco and other upscale retail establishments. Jerry Fels died 11...
