Marble Sculpture "Menacing Love" after Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791)

About the Item

Marble Sculpture "Menacing Love" After Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791) France, 19th Century Dimensions: 40 x 25 x 20 cm Elegant white marble sculpture, finely carved after the famous model "Menacing Love" by Etienne-Maurice Falconet, one of the most emblematic figures of 18th-century French Rococo art. This version dates from the 19th century and reflects the delicacy and sensuality that characterize the original work on display at the Louvre. The figure depicts Cupid, the god of love, in a playful and dynamic pose, with his index finger raised in a warning pose and a serene yet suggestive expression. Despite the absence of wings, the piece retains its great expressive power thanks to the meticulous anatomical details and the smoothness of the surfaces, which faithfully capture the spirit of the original. Carved from high-quality marble, the sculpture is distinguished by its precise modeling and compositional balance, making it a highly refined decorative work, ideal for classical interiors or collectors of Grand Siècle art. Good overall condition, with the aforementioned absence of wings.
