Mid Century Modern Style Black Aphrodite Sculpture Alva Studios MMA

About the Item

Large mid-century female torso sculpture made of cast stone in black and cream by Alva Studios, stamped on bottom leg. This listing is for a MCM Style sculpture of the torso of Aphrodite on a cream to brown swirl base. It was sold originally by the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a commissioned reproduction. The studio commissioned by the Met for this sculpture was Alva Studios. They were well known during the 1960’s for doing museum quality work and were commissioned by many of the major museums during this time. This large heavy sculpture is 20” tall by 8-1/2” by 7-1/2” Wonderful piece for just about any room in your home or office, it does have some scratches on the back, please look at all photos.
