Seven foot Tall John Richen Bronze “Lady“

About the Item

A solid bronze monumental work of art by the noted artist John Richen. It depicts a standing woman pointing. It is signed on the base. The sculpture actually swivels. A brief bio of the artist follows: John Matthew Richen has been a professional sculptor since graduating from Oregon State University in 1970. His expertise in metal fabrication brought him immediate acknowledgement from the international art world. In the late 1990s he designed his studio in the California Desert in a small peaceful Community that provides year round work conditions and inspiration from the variety of landscapes. In addition to bronze, stainless steel and aluminum, this innovative sculptor also incorporates COR-ten steel, granite, fused glass, water and lighting into selected works. Motion, light and spirit are the driving force behind each sculptural project. Site-specific opportunities always have a setting but the preferred projects for John Richen are those that have ideas and meaning that can be integrated into the composition providing an intellectual connection with the observer or perhaps a moment of beauty and reflection. Bronze, stainless and aluminum all have unique qualities that support any scale and Scope of work. The medium of metal is fluid, light responsive and timeless. "I have always believed that the strength of metal allows me the opportunity and freedom to create flowing motion. Stainless steel is light responsive, bronze is fluid and aluminum can be carved and stained with a myriad of color. Each material possesses unique qualities and characteristics that support any scale of work and endless design capabilities. Motion, light and spirit are the compelling forces that I strive to capture in my sculpture. Site-specific compositions with expressed meaning and ideas offer the observer the chance to connect intellectually or to perhaps find encouragement, inspiration or beauty through a moment of reflection.".

  • Bronze "Byte"
    By Jeff Day
    Located in Palm Springs, CA
An immense and heavy bronze by the noted artist Jeff Day. he is currently in China but we managed to converse with him. He identified the work and the approximate year it was cast and how heard it was to make. He thinks he signed it although we can't find his mark. it is quite impressive and has a beautiful gold flecked patina. There is a fracture in the center small and hard to spot that occurred in the casting. This is a unique piece. There are some minor losses to the patina near the base and minor nicks and scratches. The base has been repaired in one corner. and shows its age with age appropriate wear.
