Museum Exhibited Stoneware Studio Pottery Sculpture by Susan Newman, D. 1962
About the Item
Expressive stoneware art pottery sculpture by Susan C. Newman, dated 1962. This piece was exhibited along with works by other noted modernist ceramicists such as Peter Voulkos, Ken Ferguson, Toshiko Takaezu, et. al. in the 22nd Ceramic National Exhibition at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY in 1962. The career making show was held sporadically in Syracuse from 1932-72 and featured the very best juried contemporary works of the moment. The affixed exhibit number (92) and a photo from the show catalog (final image) verify that this was the very same sculpture and not a companion piece. Measures 13” high, 16” deep, 12” wide.
