Contemporary Bronze Nude Female Torso Sculpture

About the Item

Contemporary bronze sculpture by outstanding Russian artist Tatiana Brodatch based in Milan. This "Venus Torso" from the famous project "Love is a verb", which was shown in a different galeries and made specially in bronze in a little serie of 8. Project "Love is a verb" presented a composition of 55 nude plasticine figures on the bed. They are captured in three poses: before, after and during sex. However, it is not a pornographic scene or an orgy, but "a delegated performance" dedicated to the presence of love in a living organism. 55 participants of the «intimate battle scene» are either keeping themselves company or are split into groups and pairs. They are all interacting and relating to each other. The small size of the characters evokes the Lilliputians of Jonathan Swift. The plasticine is chosen as a material for the creation as it has a plastic and a picturesque nature, not to mention its possibilities to quickly change the form under the touch of the human hand - the most common way to express love. Seeing nudity made using selected materials and techniques excludes vulgarity and simplifies the path to self-awareness. Nudity is a discovery of the truth, derived from the consumption of the fruit by Eve from the tree of knowledge. The lack of coverage allows you to know yourself. "To see a naked body is to perceive clear cognoscibility on the other side of an enigma, this or that side of its own objective predicate ... The knowledge of nudity means a state of lost delight and happy ignorance of oneself ... " The modern attitude towards the naked female body, the identification of a woman with sexuality and its reduction to the purely physical form justify taking into account of nudity in the aesthetic discourse, as much as in the secular art and in religion. The representation of "body image" and similar ways of conceptualizing the carnal are actively studied by social sciences and are closely integrated with philosophical discourse. The concept of body image "was introduced for the first time by Austrian psychiatrist Paul Ferdinand Schilder. The sexual body acquires social "power" but results from efforts to discipline it and subject it to the demands of the system. When Michel Foucault, developed an idea that pleasure does not oppose the power of control and repression. On the contrary, the power configuration framework uses sexual pleasure for practical purposes. Sexuality is transformed into ideology, ceasing to be a personal matter and becoming the field on which power is exercised. At the same time, external stress giving way to personal coercion, external control of power or even violence has shifted to self-control, when the organism moves - and it seems to be a manifestation of his own desire - in a search to satisfy the need for power. In the second compartment of the gallery, we will project a video that will present explicit coitus of the plasticine characters. Thanks to the material of which the microscopic parts of the body are made of, the event on the screen does not provoke repulsion, on the contrary, it generates interest by pursuing the author's idea of the universal need of the body - love for a human being.
