Pair of 19th Century Carved Alabaster Statues of Classically Draped Females

Made in Italy circa 1860 this pair of figures are of good size and color with many Fine details. Certainly made as an export or tourist item speaking of the ancient days the pair would have graced a Victorian period home in dining room or parlor as mantel or side board decoration. Carved in the round the figures are done as a left and a right with animal attendants and holding symbols of prosperity and good fortune. The statues are raised up on carved alabaster bases which themselves are decorated with swags and floral festoons bordered by acanthus leaf carved trim.
