This lovely oblong dish features one of the classic subjects of high style Art Deco design -- the leaping antelope -- but in other respects it is highly unusual. It is an early work of Waylande Gregory for Cowan Pottery, before he struck out on his own in the 1930s, and it is finished with a striking, speckled glaze in a rich, burnt sienna color, with a touch of green in the depths of the dish.
