Pair Of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu & Rouge Griotte Marble Statues
About the Item
A charming pair of French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Rouge Griotte marble statues. Each statue is raised on a wonderful circular Rouge Griotte marble pedestal with a thick mottled base and fluted column above leading to the bullnose shelf. The wonderful and most charming cherubs above are seated on square bases with fabric and draped tassels. Each cherub is holding a horn in their hands while having inflated cheeks indicating that they are blowing into the horns. Exceptional detail and wonderfully decorative. Could also be used as bookends.
