About the Item

A wonderful and most charming pair of French early 19th century Terra Cotta statues, circa 1820. Each statue is raised on a circular Terra Cotta base displaying a ground like surface and tree bark etchings, with the right statue showcasing an intricately sculpted tree trunk. The statue to the left is of a handsome young man wearing period attire while seemingly courting the elegant young woman to his right with a bouquet of flowers. The young maiden in also dressing in period attire, with her wonderfully detailed dress, corset and bonnet. The true pair of statues gaze towards each other as if caught in a moment of time and display all original patina.
