Pair of French Empire ormolu and Patinated Bronze Centrepieces
About the Item
Pair of exquisite monumental centerpieces with bronze work in the the
Manner of Pierre-Philippe Thormire, 1751-1843. The pair in the form of reticulated gilt grape vine baskets sit at the crest of three classically draped maidens. They hold the baskets aloft issuing scrolling branches
Of grapes with a reticulated basket with a scalloped edge.
Supported by dark patinated winged caryatids. The caryatids are joined by the hands with gilt bronze wreaths and they are mounted on gilt bronze circular columns with garlands, swags and masks.
They are mounted on a deep circular gilt bronze base.
