About the Item

Patinated bronze statue of a "Seated young woman taking off her shoes" by artist Malvina Brach. The female figure is seated on a rock, her hair pulled up into a coiled bun revealing a gentle face, her right arm delicately removes her left shoe and her dress loosens slightly, revealing part of her breast. The model is sculpted in a true moment of relaxation, reflected in the slackening of the body muscles and a relaxed face. This bronze print is signed "M. BRACH" on the terrace. This Art Nouveau female sculpture is representative of the work of Malvina Brach, who had many female models in her artistic circle (ballet dancers, actresses, comedians, etc.), allowing her a certain freedom in the execution of her models. Who is Malvina Brach? Madeleine Brach (known as Malvina Brach) was a sculptor and opera dancer born in Paris in the 19th century. She was a pupil of the painter and sculptor Jean-Léon Gérôme, and exhibited at the Salon des artistes français in 1900 and 1904.
