About the Item
A bronze sculpture with tripod base by Robert Graham, Mexican - American sculptor who lived in Los Angeles. The sculpture depicts a standing female figure with her arms behind her head. Unsigned. Featured on the Robert Graham exhibition book published by Palacio de Bellas Artes (August - November 1997).
Robert Graham (1938 - 2008) was born in Mexico City. He would establish in San Jose, California after his father's death in 1944. He studied in San José State University and San Francisco Art Institute. His first solo exhibition was held in the Dallas Museum of Art in 1972. Graham is known by his monumental commissions: the ceremonial gateway for the 1984 Olympics at the Los Angeles Memorial Colisseum, the Joe Louis monument in Detroit, Michigan and the Duke Ellington monument in Central Park, New York.
