Ron Isaacs Mourning Dress Signed Acrylic on Birch Plywood Construction Sculpture

A contemporary trompe l'oeil two-piece wall sculpture titled "Mourning Dress" by Ron Issacs. Acrylic on birch plywood construction. Hand signed in pencil on the verso. Also titled and dated 9/12/76-10/28/76 on verso. A dramatic composition of a realistic black dress with beaded decoration and fern leaf details. A macabre yet whimsical artwork that sparks conversation and imagination. Per the artist, "My three primary recurring subjects are vintage clothing (for the way it continues the life of the past into the present, for its rich structures and colors and shapes, and for its anthropomorphic presence as a stand-in for the figure); plant materials in the form of sticks, leaves, flowers; and found objects." From a private collection. Purchased from Robert Kidd Gallery; original gallery tag on verso. Dimensions: H-28 L-28 W-2.5 (Top) / H-48 L-35.5 W-3.5 (bottom). In excellent vintage condition. Ron Issacs is a contemporary American artist known for wood installations depicting natural forms, vintage garments, and objects from daily life. His is included in many public and private collections, including the Racine Art Museum, the Kohler Arts Center, the Huntsville Museum of Art, the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, American Express, Chase Manhattan Bank, AT&T, and the McDonalds Corporation. Issacs has had numerous solo exhibitions nationwide. Today his works can be found in many private and corporate collections.
