About the Item

Modernist bronze figurine/statuette titled First Violin from the Symphony Collection by Ron and Sheila Ruiz. Signed and numbered 42/80 on coat tail. “Both natives of Southern California, when Ron and Sheila married in 1984, they found they shared another love - the world of fine art. Their artistic backgrounds paralleled as they were both raised in families that provided a strong influence on art from a very young age. Ron's early artistic life was guided by his mother, who was an artist for Warner Bros. and Hanna Barbera Studios. Ron obtained a BA degree from the California University system and worked professionally in engineering design and drawing. Sheila's love for art was also fired by her mother, a very prolific and talented painter. Sheila attended private art schools as well as University classes, eventually building a career in Marketing and Advertising. Early in their marriage Ron and Sheila rekindled their artistic interests. They both found they loved the tactile feeling and ""hands-on"" experience of working with clay, eventually translating their experience and talents into bronze sculpture. Their work has remained a collaborative effort. Ron and Sheila not only share their ideas about the next sculpture they will create, they actually work on each other's image, making their sculptures a true joint project combining each one's talents. They initially choose the human form, highlighting grace, movement, and energy, using a colorful luminescent patina to enhance and individualize each piece. They recently expanded their Collections to include the beauty and vibrant colors of the butterfly - truly one of nature's finest inspirations. The Ruiz's have won numerous awards in juried shows and have been featured in news articles and art publications. Their sculpture is included in the private collections of corporations and the motion picture and sports celebrities. They were chosen and commissioned to create a sculpture for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. Ron and Sheila's creative synergism has produced artworks that have had a major impact on the art marketplace. They have created sculptured art that is both classical and dynamic, art to be enjoyed by every generation - for generations.
