Scultura in bronzo "La Schiava", la cui realizzazione è attribuita a Giacomo Ginotti nel 1800 Ø cm 15 Ø cm 20 h cm 44 Giacomo Ginotti (1845-1897) è stato un importante scultore italiano del XIX secolo, noto per le sue opere in marmo e bronzo, spesso caratterizzate dal realismo pittorico e dallo stile sensuale. Nato a Brugaro di Cravagliana, Vercelli, il 5 dicembre 1845, Ginotti studiò inizialmente alla Scuola Barolo di Varallo prima di frequentare l'Accademia Albertina di Torino dal 1865 al 1869. Lì, fu allievo di illustri scultori come Giovanni Giuseppe Albertoni, Odoardo Tabacchi e Vincenzo Vela, che influenzarono il suo sviluppo artistico. Nel 1869, Ginotti si trasferì a Roma, dove aprì uno studio e perfezionò la sua tecnica. Ottenne un notevole successo con la sua opera "La Schiava", esposta per la prima volta all'Esposizione Nazionale di Napoli nel 1877. Questa sensuale scultura in marmo raffigurante una schiava che spezza le catene fu molto acclamata e acquistata da Re Vittorio Emanuele II per una nuova galleria d'arte moderna presso il Museo della Reggia di Capodimonte a Napoli. "La Schiava" gli valse anche una medaglia d'oro all'Esposizione Universale di Parigi del 1878, dove i critici lodarono la sua maestria nel rendere il marmo con una consistenza carnosa. Un'altra opera degna di nota di Ginotti è "La Pétroleuse vinta" (La Pétroleuse vaincue), un busto ispirato alle donne coinvolte nella Comune di Parigi del 1871. Una versione in bronzo di quest'opera, realizzata nel 1887, è stata recentemente acquisita dal Musée d'Orsay di Parigi. Ginotti tornò a Torino nel 1886, dove fu nominato professore all'Accademia Albertina. Realizzò anche opere monumentali, tra cui una fontana per il cortile di Palazzo Martini e Rossi e il monumento a Carlo Nicola di Robilant a Torino.
