Figurina in ceramica raffigurante una dama e un cane, realizzata da Giuseppe Cappe nel 1959 Ø cm 12 Ø cm 10 h cm 25 Giuseppe Cappè (1921-2008) è stato un rinomato artista italiano, ampiamente riconosciuto per le sue squisite sculture e statuette in porcellana di Capodimonte. Nato a Milano, visse e lavorò a Lomagna, vicino a una manifattura di porcellana, dove creò opere che ottennero fama internazionale, in particolare negli Stati Uniti. Cappè è considerato uno dei migliori scultori di porcellana di Capodimonte. Trasse ispirazione dalla ricca tradizione popolare barocca-alessandrina italiana, evidente negli stucchi dettagliati di Serpotta (Palermo), nella porcellana di Capodimonte stessa e nei presepi napoletani. Mescolò radici barocche con tradizioni popolari veriste e neoclassiche, spesso incorporando un tocco umoristico e creativo. Iniziò a realizzare sculture già nel 1946. Lavorò come capo scultore presso lo studio IPA e successivamente presso King. Nel 1959 aprì la sua fabbrica di porcellane artistiche "Cappé"; creò ininterrottamente circa 250 modelli per tutta la sua vita. Le sue figure raffigurano spesso allegorie, scene rurali e vita quotidiana, a volte con un tocco romantico o umoristico. Produsse sia linee classiche, spesso in porcellana bianca e oro ispirate alla mitologia greca, sia una seconda linea di opere più umoristiche e dettagliate. Giuseppe Cappè è scomparso a Lomagna il 7 maggio 2008, lasciando un'importante eredità artistica nel mondo della porcellana pregiata.
